(If you're not on Windows I'm not sure where your installation folders are, but the idea is the same) Using this trick, won't Steam still show that you don't own the DLC? Can you completely uninstall Origin doing it this way?
#IS THERE ANYWAY TO PLAY THE SIMS 4 OFFLINE? MODS#
I just copied all the expansion files from the Origin one to the Steam install, launched it, all works fine, mods too. I just did this, links completely fine, and when you launch it via Steam it will ask to redownload all the packs. (If you're not on Windows I'm not sure where your installation folders are, but the idea is the same) Thank you Just make sure you log into the correct Origin account when you launch it the first time. (If you're not on Windows I'm not sure where your installation folders are, but the idea is the same) You might do good for closing and restarting Sims 4 via Steam at this point, and hopefully, as it worked for me, launching it through Steam will now open up Sims 4 with all your DLC installed. I then uninstalled and hid the old installation in the Origin library. Copied over every EP01, FP01, GP01, SP01, all the numbers, from the old installation, into the new Steam installation. Open up in another window the Steam installation, which will be like "./Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/The Sims 4". For me that was "G:/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4", so try looking around for an "Electronic Arts" folder, or an "Origin Games" folder till you find it. So to move all my DLC, I went to where my game was installed originally. You can solve that by going to the Origin Tab on top left and selecting Go Offline. If you want to play The Sims 4 Offline, there are 2 ways to solve this: Via Origin Via Game When opening Origin, you’ll be automatically connected to the net. Now if you open the instance of Origin that just got launched at the same time you can see a new The Sims 4 with the word STEAM on it. When opening The Sims 4, the game will automatically connect to the internet. Log in with your account that has The Sims 4 with all your DLC on it. I launched it and it'll prompt you to connect an Origin account. They might, I mean we can hope! But not right now.Īnyway, downloaded it and everything. Uninstalled the Origin one now, so I just have the Steam install.ĭid you have to buy the base game? How did you do it, if you don't mind letting me know the steps you took? Does steam still have to open Origin to play the game?īought Sims 4 on Steam, sadly you have to do this and I don't think EA is gonna let you properly link and just receive it.

No exact date has been set but offline will be released as part of update 10 in the near future.Originally posted by dakoda:I just did this, links completely fine, and when you launch it via Steam it will ask to redownload all the packs. The mode has been in development since August and is now at the alpha testing stage. And, all without crippling the Multiplayer game."

This means removing lots of code integral to Multiplayer including code and UI supporting Trading, Social Features, Global Market, Leaderboards and Achievements. The process also involved cutting out parts of SimCity: "We had to remove parts of the game for it to function properly as well.
We've had to write a lot of code to produce that data locally, specifically for region information." There's lots of code that hits the servers looking for information. We've had to knock out the internet pipe stuff.

This meant rewriting the entire system, which previously existed in Java, and putting it into C++. The game routinely pings the servers for critical pieces of data (region status, workers, trading etc.) and it relies on that information to keep the simulation moving. " SimCity was written to rely on the servers. Even things that seem trivial, like the way that cities are saved and loaded, had to be completely reworked in order to make this feature function correctly," said Fox. "By the time we're finished we will have spent over six and a half months working to write and rewrite core parts of the game to get this to work. All three computers updated without problem, so I doubt Tixxis suggestion would be the issue unless they were both trying to update at the same time. I also have TS4 on a laptop that gets used frequently. The single player mode's lead engineer, Simon Fox, has now gone into further detail regarding the process to explain what took so long. We play at the same time often, one of us online with Origin and the other staying offline.
